Wonder Woman gives DC a level playing field in the competition among SuperHero movies...

We live in an age filled with Superheroes. Just that the superheroes are on screen and not in real life making a real-difference.

While the Avengers are protecting planet Earth, we have Marvel’s new entrants – the Guardians safeguarding the Galaxy. On the other hand, we have the DC Universe lagging far behind in terms of quality of their movies. Batman versus Superman was a big dud and Suicide Squad did not do much to raise the hopes of DC-Universe fans.

Well, all that is set to change now thanks to Wonder Woman.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman introduces to a new Superhero who literally wants to put an end to war by killing the God of War, Ares. The Amazon princess has a certain sense of innocence attached to her, which makes her more endearing (Like Gal Gadot wasn’t endearing before).

We saw glimpses of her tough act in Batman versus Superman, but did we really know of her origin?
That’s what Wonder Woman sets out to do. It could we be called – Wonder Woman Origins.
Wonder Woman along with her fellow Amazon warriors lives in a secret land shielded by Zeus himself. But somehow World War 1 Spy Trevor (Chris Pine) manages to enter their world and all hell sets loose.

Along with Trevor, Wonder Woman embarks on a mission to stop the God of War while Trevor seeks to put an end to Doctor Maru’s deadly weapon.
The basic premise of Wonder Woman might not be that strong but it does take you on a journey nevertheless. A journey: which helps the Amazon princess to realize her true potential and understand the reason behind her existence.

Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman with an unparalleled innocence you rarely associate with the usual brand of cheeky, casanova superheroes. Gal Gadot might not be one of the best actresses, just yet, but she surely is one of the most beautiful actresses of our times. With time and more movies, she will only improve and lend more credibility to her performance.
Chris Pine too was remarkable in the supporting lead never trying to outshine his female co-star in spite of being a star himself.

The underlying message in Wonder Woman is quite simple -women can stand up for themselves and are powerful, capable and responsible for their own empowerment.

We would be seeing Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League movie along with other JL members. But I do hope we don’t have to wait long for a Wonder Woman-sequel where she gets the screen-time she deserves.
