The Road!

A single object or situation can be interpreted in different ways by different people. Something that seems joyous to one can be interpreted differently by a third person. It all comes down to an individual’s sense of perception.
Similarly there can be different experiences associated with a common place.

In the following post, I have tried to bring together three different experiences associated with a common place, in reference of this post, the road!
Three different short stories/ experiences based on – The Road!

The Face on the Road! The Road #1

He jogged for miles with his new jogging mate
They enjoyed watching the bickering couple,
The cute dog chasing them every single day,
The road was a perfect remedy for an otherwise depressed and lonely mind.

Until one day, a familiar face greeted him in the papers
A face he saw every morning was dead for over a year!

Will you marry me?  The Road #2
He waited for days to pop the question
After weeks of planning, he was finally ready.
He knelt down in the middle of the road and spoke the magical words, "Will you marry me?"

Teary eyed she asked, “but, why here on this road?”
He replied, “this is where I saw you, for the first time.”

The ever-faithful friend The Road! #3
The road was his favorite place
He waited patiently for the best part of his day.
For his favorite person to turn up in the morning.
He loved to chase him while he jogged.

He had been doing it every day, every year, except for that one day!

Now can three different stories be brought together?
Well, let’s try!

The Open Road #4

He decided to be brave; he did go back for a jog the next morning
His jogging partner accompanied him as always
"So,"he muttered,"You are dead!"
“Yes, I am”… said he, but his voice trailed off.
“Watch out for that curve! That’s exactly where I slipped and fell downhill a year back.”
He was grateful to the dead man who saved his life; speechless he just looked at the dog wagging his tail next to his former owner.

Nearby, the now engaged couple had come to their everyday meeting spot
Staring at the man talking to himself.

The boy exclaimed, “Loneliness can drive one mad, glad we got each other for company”
