#DearZindagi ~ Life meets Art ~ #MyTake on the Movie
There are very few movies (Bollywood movies) that stay with you even after you exit the cinema-hall.
Dear Zindagi falls exactly into that bracket.
It's a refreshing take on one of the most complicated subjects in the universe and that is Life!
The best part of the movie is it teaches you a lot about life without being preachy. Some of it you already know, but never hit the pause button to ponder over it.
It's like that missing jigsaw puzzle Jug (SRK) talks about. It fits in perfectly and makes you stop and reflect for a moment to try to bring things together.
A slice of life movie that can connect with everyone (Well almost, everyone!).
After what seems like eternity, we finally get to see SRK the actor and not the star we all had started to despise.
Dear Zindagi needed SRK the actor to add some depth in to the proceedings. His mature turn as - Jug the therapist -is what might set the tone for probably what seems to be the last innings of his already glorious career (If Farah Khan or Karan Johar do not come along with one more horrible script)

SRK's witty, thought-provoking dialogues will stay with us for a long time. Be ready for a hoard of FB posts and watsapp messages featuring his dialogues. For me the best dialogue of the movie was the chair-symbolism, which has already been featured in one of the movie's teasers. (Side note: Watch out for the scene when Alia pours her heart out and weeps inconsolably and SRK let's her do that without uttering a single word. Sheer genius!).
On the other hand, Alia is effortless. It's her movie all the way and she owns it! For someone of her age, she shows great maturity the way she deals with the character. Hand her the Filmfare trophy already! After three remarkable performances in one calendar year ( Kapoor & Sons, Udta Punjaab and Dear Zindagi), she should win the Best Actress award hands-down.
And thank God for the not-so-cliched climax. I feared the climax might turn out to be like one of the typical Bollywood rom-com movies and I thank Gauri Shinde for not following the tried and tested, conventional route.
Do yourself a favor and watch this gem of a movie in the theaters. Highly recommended!
You might leave the theater wanting to take a re-take in your life.
